Why Wellbeing Committees Need Financial Support To Be Fully Effective

This workshop will use the examples of three wellbeing committees to highlight the role that financial support from their medical staff and the hospital plays in the effectiveness of their work. The veteran chairpersons of these committees will share their experience of securing the funds and explain how the money is used in each of their settings as the committees address physician health and wellness.   Dr. Jackson, Dr. Reynard and Dr. Miotto will explain the significance of who pays for what elements and how it impacts the effectiveness of the committee.

Treating Safety Sensitive Workers Who Are Physicians

The afternoon workshop be of particular interest to medical staff and medical group leaders, hospital medical executives and the attorneys representing them.

This presentation by Paul Earley, MD, on the data, the rationale, and the methods for treating physicians with substance use disorders as safety sensitive workers is based on the information from The ASAM Criteria for: 

Elements of Effective Treatment for Safety Sensitive Workers (SSWs) When the Safety Sensitive Workers are Physicians. The following topics will be covered:

  • Treatment Setting and Treatment Staff
  • Documentation Issues
  • Evaluation Needs
  • Reentry and Support Systems
  • Ongoing Treatment of Chronic Conditions 
  • Managing Public Opinion 

CPPPH offers these workshops to members and staff of committees of hospital medical staffs, medical groups, specialty societies and county medical associations. Attendance is by invitation. Participation is usually limited to those who serve on physician health committees or have similar responsibilities, however, as this topic is of wide-ranging interest, invitations are extended to all persons with roles related to peer review, credentialing and privileging.

Cost for each workshop is $45 per person if registered prior to May 29, 2016.

  • Registration on or after May 30th is $50.00 for each workshop.
  • Fees to register for both full day (both workshops) $85.00 per person after May 30, 2016; then $90.00.
  • For groups of 3 or more from the same institution we offer a savings of 10 dollars per-person.

This workshop is not a program of continuing medical education; no CME credit is offered.
